Sexual misconduct lawsuit against Bishop Eddie Long reaches settlement

The settlement comes eight months after Long told his congregation he would "vigorusly" fight the accusations against him.
Four young men who accused a Georgia megachurch pastor, Bishop Eddie Long, of sexual misconduct have “resolved” their lawsuit.
clearpxl The news came Thursday from attorneys representing both sides. The settlement of the case quietly ends a legal complaint that ignited scrutiny and media attention to a powerful national religious leader who seemingly had anti-gay attitudes and was homophobic.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. However, both sides agree that the civil suits filed against Long, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, would not proceed.
According to the four young men, Long allegedly coerced them into intimate sexual acts including massages, masturbation and oral sex. Allegedly he used gifts such as cars, cash and travel domestically and abroad when they were 17 to coerce the men.
Long had denied the allegations, and federal and state authorities didn't investigate because Georgia's age of consent is 16.
Long, a 58-year-old married father of four, leads a 25,000-member congregation and heads an international televangelist empire. He has also championed traditional family values and has been an outspoken opponent of gay marriage.
Church spokesman Art Franklin issued a statement late Thursday saying: "After a series of discussions, all parties involved have decided to resolve the civil cases out of court. This decision was made to bring closure to this matter and to allow us to move forward with the plans God has for this ministry."
"As is usually the case when civil lawsuits resolve out of court, we cannot discuss any details regarding the resolution or the resolution process, as they are confidential," Frank said in the statement. "This resolution is the most reasonable road for everyone to travel."
The settlement comes eight months after Long, speaking from the pulpit, vowed to his congregation he’d fight the accusations against him.
Mediation talks began in February and according to news reports, the sessions between Long and his four accusers - Anthony Flagg, Maurice Robinson, Jamal Parris and Spencer LeGrande - were tense.

Will The Hang Over 2 Dominate The Box Office?

Will The Hang Over 2 Dominate The Box Office?

Well critics seem to think so.   They're estimating it to be largest four day Memorial Day Week box office open since 2007.  Grant it; The Hang Over original was definitely a hilarious film.  I'm not sure which weekend is released.

This film has had it's share of controversy and it's nothing short of amazement that has been released this weekend considering the lawsuit.

The lawsuit that might have delayed the release of The Hangover 2 has not gone away, but the film is set to be released around the world as scheduled. Victor Whitmill, a tattoo artist, has filed a lawsuit against Warner Brothers seeking an injunction and damages for copyright infringement. Whitmill  is seeking an estimated $30 million settlement for damages.

Whitmill  is the original tattoo artist of the Maori tattoo on boxer Mike Tyson’s face which actor Ed Helm’s character bares throughout the film. Whitmill was not being asked for permission for the use of the tattoo in the film led to the copyright infringement lawsuit.

Interesting enough, Mike Tyson likely has given permission for the use of the tattoo, so who actually owns the tattoo, that you bare on your person; You or the artist who inked it?

U.S. District Court Judge Catherine D. Perry has denied the request for the Hangover 2 to be delayed in its release. She is, however, letting the case move forward and has admitted that Whitmill has a good chance at winning.

We will just have to wait and see which movie will come out on top.  The sequels to Kunfu Panda, and Pirates of The Caribbean will definitely be front runners as well.

What Do Tim McGraw And The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Have In Common?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Attorneys for country music star Tim McGraw have filed a countersuit against Curb Records, seeking a ruling that would release him from his 20-year contract with Mike Curb.

Big Record Companies doing business as usual.  Record companies either have a knack for spotting great talent and bottling it up for decades or it's just standard operating procedures.  Either way it the war rages on again with yet another music entertainment superstar attempting to emancipated from a extremely lengthy contract.

This will no doubt be one to watch and see just how it turns out.  But it does make one wonder where the heck were these attorneys when Tim McGraw entered into and agree to the twenty year contract; and should this even be a disputed since we will assume that Tim McGraw entered into the agreement in sound mind and no doubt was enthusiatic in the early years.

Maybe Tim McGraw has grown wise to the industry and the blood sucking record companies and is now ready to stand up to them.  Only time will tell!  Many of the artist in position learn the game and then open their own record companies and employ the same tactics used against them on the newer unsupecting artist.  Just one vicious cycle after another.

Either way this artist promoter relationship is soured and it's best for both parties to go their seperates ways and try to part as friends and remember the good times.  There is always a new superstar in the making just around the corner and the more time you spend arguring in court the further they will move from your grasp to your competing record companies.

A fool will lose tomorrow reaching back for yesterday!

Mike Who? Mike Brown Mike Who? Mike Brown "So long Phil Jackson!" "Hello Mike Brown!"

Will the Los Angeles Lakers may make Mike Brown the next head coach?

Mike Brown has agreed in principle to become the Lakers' next head coach, according to an NBA official who was not permitted to speak publicly on the matter.

Brown is expected to sign a contract later Wednesday or Thursday. The deal is worth between $4 million and $4.5 million per season, NBA officials said. Brown's contract is thought to be for three years, with a team option on the fourth season that would give him partial pay if he is not retained.

Phil Jackson retired as the Lakers' head coach after the team was eliminated by Dallas in the second round of the playoffs.

Brown, 41, was head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for five seasons until he was fired in 2010. He had a 272-138 record.

He was named the NBA's coach of the year in 2009, leading the Cavaliers to a 66-16 record.
Brown also led the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2007, but Cleveland was swept by the San Antonio Spurs.

Now what about the Houston Rockets, "Who will the name as head coach?"  Likely to be Kevin Mchale.
